A Dr. Seuss Nursery Reveal

I am so excited! Today we are finally ready to reveal Little Man's nursery!

When we were first pregnant with Peanut and long before we knew if she was a boy or a girl, we dreamed of what kind of nursery we'd want.  Something feminine and sweet for a girl.  And hands down, no questions asked, a Dr. Seuss themed room if it was a boy.  I seriously thought that Peanut was a boy so when I saw little Cat in the Hat figurines and such at places like Michaels I would buy them just to be safe.  Of course by doing this it naturally sealed the fact that Peanut was indeed a beautiful little girl and so our nursery theme went from reds, blacks and whites to purples, creams and golds.  And I wouldn't have it any other way!

Once we discovered we were having a boy we were so excited to begin designing the Dr. Seuss themed nursery.  I already knew what nursery set I wanted but we had to decide on furniture color and how/if we wanted to paint the walls.  The hubs got a genius idea as we were planning and decided to invite his best friend out to paint a mural on the walls.  I thought we'd have one wall painted with The Cat in the Hat on it but Eric had other ideas.  We simply handed him the Dr. Seuss books and let his imagination and amazing artistic skills go crazy.

Growing up my favorite book was The Cat in the Hat and the hub's was The Sneetches. So we had to include those scenes from the book.  Eric simply looked at the pictures from the books, sketched an outline on the wall and then painted them in, all free hand. I couldn't believe how amazing it turned out. And now, without further ado, our Dr. Seuss Nursery!

And now the furniture!

Close up of the details

I can't believe how amazing it all turned out.  I will go sit in the nursery and just stare at the walls. If anyone needs a custom mural for an nursery or any other room in their home let me know because I have the BEST reference for you!  Only 4-5 more weeks until we get to bring Little Man home to his one of a kind bed room.  I can't wait!

What do you think of nursery? Would you do a customized room for your new baby?
