Halloween Through The Years!

As I was looking through my list of blogs I follow I noticed a ton of people are posting Halloween pictures and recaps from previous years. And I won't lie - I wanted to join in on the fun and go back over some of my favorite Halloween costumes from the past.

This is the oldest picture I could dig up...I was a super blonde bunny. How freaking cute!

This one was from Sophomore year in college. I didn't own a digital camera back then so it is one of the few I could find. I wasn't into the sexy/scantily clad costumes yet...

I  found this classic on MySpace (yes I still have an account there and I somehow still have 101 friends). I was a fly girl from that show In Living Color and my bestie was a Playboy Bunny.

This one cracks me up every time I see it. I was a fairy (sans wings in this photo) and the bestie was a "Suga Mama" with red hot nips. HA!

That same Halloween we classed it up and went as Gangstas. We got these costumes for like 2 bucks at the Thrift store and they were a hit at Auld Shebeen.

Pirate! The skirt was made by my other bestie for our Hallween party at the townhouse.

Same costume only I was lazy the next night and only wore half of it. Sally on the other hand looked awesome as Flava Flavvvv! Sally and I have spent quite a few Halloweens together as you will see in the upcoming photos.

This costume was again hand made by my bestie/roommate. I was - ugh having a total brain fart and can't remember the name of the movie this was from!
This is probably the costume with the LEAST amount of fabric that I ever I wish I was skinny again.

One of my last costumes was as the Mad Hatter. There was an Alice to my Hatter. Tons of fun.
Sally again!
This was Andrew's year to be a Playboy Bunny.

The last thing I dressed up as before I got pregnant was for my friends Harry Potter Halloween party. I went as Bellatrix Lestrange and the hubby was Voldemort. He went all out - even purchased the authentic wand and everything!

This year - we aren't dressing up as anything.  But we dressed up K as this:

And we are taking her to her first Halloween party...I'm trying to decide if we want to trick or treat to a few houses or wait until next year when she can walk up to the doors herself. Either way - Halloween over the years has been a blast and I can't wait to celebrate many more with the peanut!

Scrapdoodles Design Team Project

A month or two ago I applied to become part of the Scrapdoodles Design team.  Scrapdoodles is a local scrapbooking store located in Fredericksburg, VA.  It is my favorite scrapbook store and I often go to Friday night crops with  my friends.  I submitted a gallery of my work to the team and was pleasantly surprised when I was selected to join the team!  This week is my first post and I'm excited to share my projects with everyone! You can check out my debut on the Scrapdoodles blog here.

When I went into the store I grabbed a few pieces of cardstock from the Authentique "Thankful" line.  I knew just the photos that I wanted to use for this beautiful line.

I often call my daughter our little blessing baby. And I give thanks everyday that she is here with us.  This photo of her looking up in wide eyed wonderment was perfect and I thought it complimented the theme very nicely. The flowers and glitter letters are from my stash. The ribbon tying the layout together on the left is also a satin ribbon from my stash. The rest is all Authentique paper and card stock stickers. The solids are my favorite paper line - Bazzil. Here are a few more photos of the layout:

I LOVE paper flowers!

I had a bunch of paper and stickers left over so I made a simple mini flip book of my daughter as a newborn with some of her favorite people.

I hope you enjoyed my first project! My next project will more than likely be a winter/Christmas theme! I cant' wait!

Holy Flashback!

This past weekend my parents came up to visit and spend time with Kayleigh. We went to the zoo and while we were there I was taking pictures with their camera and started going through the photos on their memory card.  And I stumbled upon photos from their visit back in June and I couldn't believe how tiny Kayleigh was just 5 months ago!  Take a peek at this:

A few more photos from their visit in June:

I had forgotten how tiny she was.  That outfit is a size 0-3. Now she's swimming in 6-9 but it just shows how much she's grown in the last few months. I miss the days of her falling asleep on our shoulder.  So when she fell asleep on my shoulder tonight I was in Heaven!

And now a few from their visit this past weekend!

Kayleigh had an amazing time with her grandparent's this weekend. The weather for the zoo was perfect and almost all of the animals were outside.  The tiger and lion were roaring, the gorillas were gross yet funny (one started peeing and stuck his hand in the stream! ugh), and we saw some pretty cool animals overall. My parents really enjoyed seeing Kayleigh and they wore her out! She was in bed before 6 pm tonight!

Falling for fall

This past weekend we took Kayleigh to the pumpkin patch and fall festival at Cox Farms. All I have to say! That place is awesome. While Kayleigh was way too small for 99% of the activities, we still got some adorable photos of her with the pumpkins.  Because everything she touches goes into her mouth when I sat her down for photos she immediately began trying to shove the straw into her mouth.

But on a positive note, the headband I made for her came out amazing and looked so cute on her! I was in love with her Osh Kosh overalls and black tights!

I had to do a couple of hand checks with her and Eli - her little buddy.  The only way his mom got him out of the house that morning was by telling him they were coming to see Kayleigh. Those two have a special connection I swear.  Something about Eli makes Kayleigh just light up and giggle non-stop.  Drew asked Eli to help "carry the baby" and he jumped at the chance.

Over all the festival was a lot of fun. So many things to do for the kiddies from slides to animals to a straw maze. There were even some fun photo opps for the parents.

Next up this month is a visit from her Grandma and Grandpa that live in Smithfield and then its Halloween! Kayleigh was invited to a Halloween party so she gets to show off her cute elephant costume and take adorable pictures. October has been and will continue to be a busy month for us - but it gives me plenty of excuses to pull out the camera and snap pictures of my two favorite people in the world!

Movin and Shakin - 7 Months

Kayleigh has been growing by leaps and bounds this past month and I almost can't keep up! She's learned how to pull herself up to standing if she has something to hold on to (like her crib or princess chair) although she still is a bit shaky.  We took her 7 month photos and it was the toughest yet! That little booger refused to stay in her chair for longer than 10 seconds.  She was scooting down out of it, trying to climb over the edge, and climbing to her knees.  Once she got herself out of the chair she turned her back to me and spent the rest of the shoot trying to stand up.  I maybe got 20 good photos out of the 50+ I took. Here are a few:

As you can see from the progression of photos, she went from smiling pretty to chewing and climbing all of her chair.  She is ALMOST crawling.  She has the idea down and can get to her hands and knees but she hasn't quite figured out how to move. Instead she rolls herself down onto the ground and rolls across the room to get her treasure. It wouldn't surprise me though if she skips the crawling all together. This weekend we are headed to the pumpkin patch and I have the cutest outfit and headband picked out for her to wear.  The headband was hand made by me and I can't wait to get photos of her wearing it! It should be a wonderful, child-filled day with some of my favorite people!
