Our Love Story

Saw this on Mrs In Training's blog and couldn't resist filling it out for myself! :-) Linking up to Mrs to Mama

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We started dating in the summer of 2007 - although there is still a debate going over which month we made it official. I say July and he says June.  :-)

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We met at a mutual friend's birthday party.  I heard about him from another friend of mine and I wasn't too keen on him from the start.  He spent the night trying to change my opinion of him but it took a couple of months before we even became friends. He expressed interested but at the time I was planning a trip to Europe and he was planning a trip later to go to Ireland so it took a while before we finally started hanging out a lot. While he was in Ireland he sent me a message on MySpace saying he missed me and wished I was with him there - when he came back he had a bunch of little gifts he bought me cause they reminded him of me while he was there.  Needless to say we began dating almost right after that.
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We've been married for almost 2 years now. I couldn't be happier. :-)

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?It was largish. Almost all of our family and friends were there. We got married outside of a lighthouse on a huge pier down in Manteo, NC.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
Nothing crazy.  Usually we call each other "baby"

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
 He has a totally giving nature - I swear a lot of the times he does things just because he truly enjoys seeing my reaction. He is funny - I can only stay mad at him for about 5 minutes before he does something to make me smile. He is so excited to be a father - it is something he's always wanted and now that it's happening watching him transition into that role really makes me love him even more.

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
He took me away for a weekend getaway but wouldn't tell me where we were going until we got there.  We ended up at a resort called the Homestead where he arranged for me to be pampered in the spa and have a wonderful dinner.  We were dressed up and sitting outside on one of the benches when he saw two kids running down a hill.  He asked me if I wanted to have kids with him one day and if I thought we would be together forever.  When I said yes he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. I, of course, said yes.

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He is a "Valentines Day is pointless but I got you a card and a manicure and pedicure because I love you every day, plus flowers die" kinda guy.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Both honestly - I love the beach and so does he but I also love cuddling up on the couch and just watching a movie with him.
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Ask me this 9 months ago and  I would have said start a family.  But we've already accomplished that so I would say travel.  We are big travelers and we spent our honeymoon in Fiji.  We'd love to see other parts of the world together and introduce our daughter to new cultures.
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
Not much since I'm 9 months pregnant. :-) We'll do a nice dinner at home and exchange cards. We aren't big into spending money for holidays like V-Day.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
Nope and I never do.  In the past he has gotten me necklaces or bracelets on V-Day. When I mentioned that I needed a manicure and pedicure something fierce he said he'd get me that for V-Day so we'll see.
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Communication is key and so is being able to compromise.  You can't be stubborn and always get your way.  Oh and LISTEN -  one of the biggest pet peeves we both have is when we feel like we aren't being listened to.

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.
