Top Two Tuesday - Random Things About You

Happy Tuesday everyone!  The countdown is getting closer for the wedding, only 19 days left! I can't believe how quickly time has gone by this year! It's almost April already. It feels like yesterday that we were in Florida celebrating New Years. Anywho, today's post is for Top Two Tuesday over at The Undomestic Momma.  Today's topic is 2 random facts about you.
1. I have a penguin Christmas tree that stays up almost year round.  I kid you not! I'm obsessed with penguins as most of my close friends know and quite a few years ago I had maybe 10 penguin ornaments to my name. Every Christmas I would put those ornaments on my parent's tree because I never had one of my own. When I started dating Andrew almost 3 years ago I decided I wanted to have a tree of my own at my townhouse. So we purchased an artificial tree with multicolored lights and that year we purchased about 20 new penguin ornaments. Andrew said that this tree was officially deemed the penguin tree and that no other ornaments could go on it. Every year I probably buy between 5-15 new pieces for the tree, whatever I can find that I don't already have. I'm almost out of space! It's such a hassle to remove each ornament and wrap it carefully in paper and box it up that I usually just leave the tree up year round. Andrew has threatened to chuck it outside or in the trash but I know he won't. When we move I'll probably buy an ornament box keeper and put everything in there so they are safe until next Christmas.

2. I go to bed every night at 10 pm and if I didn't have to wake up at 7 pm to be at work, I'd probably sleep every day until 10 am. Yes, 12 hours of sleep. I love sleep, and I rarely get a good nights sleep that when I have a chance to really sleep in on the weekends I do. I was reading somewhere that more than 8 hours of sleep can be bad for you, but I rarely every get a full 8 hours that I don't even care! Bring on the sleep!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

And fun was had!  We had a blast at my bachelorette party this past weekend! Myself and 9 other girls all gathered at my MOH's house for the pre-party activities. My bridesmaid, Rita, made the cutest little goody bags that were filled with candy necklaces, shot glass necklaces, light up diamond rings, kazoos and a phone book.  The phone book was part of one of our games - the first to get 10 phone numbers in their book wins a prize! Becca took this game quite seriously and she won the game within about 10 minutes of us reaching the first bar!  We cruised around DC in a limo and went to two bars in the DC area. We had a great time and I think I found a new bar that I really like, Gin and Tonic. Great music, a cute tiny stage to dance on and okay priced drinks.
My beautiful cousin curling my hair. :-)

Girl's Beach Weekend

So the bestest and I decided to make our girl's beach weekend every Memorial Day weekend a tradition. We started this last year with a trip to Nags Head with 5 girls and we had a great time. This year we are looking to try out the beaches up in New Jersey and we are bringing in some new people this year. JC, Becca and I all went last year and this year I invited my cousin to come as well. She lives in Delaware so the drive isn't that far for her. She mentioned that she and a friend wanted to start a similar tradition so we invited them in on ours!

Last year we stayed in Kill Devil Hills, NC which is a beach in the Outer Banks. Because I am getting married in the Outer Banks in April and we are staying for a week, I decided we would mix it up and try something different.  Originally I was looking into stay at Dewey Beach or somewhere similar but my cousin recommended Wildwood or Seaside Heights as the best places to go, especially for us to party and have a good time! I want a place where I can sit on their patio, drinking a strawberry daiquiri and look at the ocean, and at night shake my booty!

Andrew and the boys are starting a golfing tradition during this weekend. Last year Andrew and a friend of his went to 3 different golf courses throughout PA and he wants to do that again this year.  He has quite a few guy friends interested so this looks to be our Memorial Day tradition moving forward! He has his guy's golfing weekend and I have my girl's beach weekend! I'm super excited! I've sent in a ton of inquiries for condos up in that area and I'm trying to find the best place for us with the best price and where we can all sleep comfortably. We'll see what I can find!

Here are some pics from last year's girls only beach trip!

Top Two Tuesday - Things you can't live without

My bachelorette party this past weekend was a huge success! I am waiting to gather all of the pictures from everyone so I can pick and choose the best ones to post about. My cousin came down from Delaware with a friend of hers for the weekend and it was so great to get to spend time with her. I didn't realize how much I missed her!

Today's topic for Top Two Tuesday is things you can't live without.  This one was kind of hard for me - but I think I've been able to narrow it down.

1. My DVD player.  Well technically it is a Blu Ray player but it's all the same.  I watch movies non-stop. My weekends are filled with popping in my favorite movies and laying in bed doing nothing. We have tons and tons of dvd's at home but my favorites stay upstairs in the bedroom so I have easy access to them. I can't tell you HOW many times I've seen the Harry Potter movies or Twilight. I just got New Moon last night and that will end up being added to the favorite stash.

2. My camera!  And this also ties into my scrapbooking hobby/obsession, whatever you want to call it. I take my camera with me to almost everything and I love having pictures to look back on. I love photography and even took a couple classes in college.  I would probably be very miserable if I didn't have pictures - they are all over my house and I have over 20 scrapbooks filled with photos. Seriously - I would own about 20 cameras if I could just to make sure I never didn't have one!

I should have all my bachelorette party photos by tonight, so look out for that blog next!! :-D

I'm so excited!

And I just can't hide it!! Haha - my bestest posted that on my wall on Facebook the other day in regards to my Bachelorette party that is taking place tomorrow! I am sooooo excited and pumped. The boys left this afternoon and headed up to Atlantic City for Andrew's Bachelor party and they are in for some gambling, golf, and drinking (and I'm sure other naughty things boys like to do when they are free of the girls...I'm not naive!) Tonight my cousin is driving down from Delaware with her friend and we are going to watch a movie, catch up and eat snacks. Tomorrow we are dropping the dogs off with Andrew's mom and then heading out shopping with Becca. I have a coupon for 30% off your entire purchase at Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy, so I need to do some spring shopping! Old Navy has some of the CUTEST dresses out right now, so I'm really excited to do some shopping! I plan on buying some of these items (if they look good of course!):
I am looking for a few more dresses to take with me to Fiji on our honeymoon and this looks super comfy.
This just seems like a comfy, every day spring/summer dress!
This top is just cute and I like it.
I want this tank top to go with the skirt below this. Only the skirt is the lime green color and not pink!
There are a bunch of other clothes I liked as well, but we'll have to see how everything looks once I try it on. I am super excited because I love Old Navy and I love this season's new line of spring fashions. After shopping we are heading back to Becca's for dinner and to get ready for the party. It kicks off at her place with games, goody bags, and pictures. I can't wait!  I'll be sure to post pictures on Sunday!

Spring has sprung!

Well, for the last couple of days it has and today is no exception! On my lunch break I had my windows down and my radio up. I was singing every song that came on the radio as loud as I could and I was in bliss.  I seriously love spring and I love summer even more.  I can't stand cold weather, snow is great when it gets you out of work, but this past winter season, it snowed on weekends and ruined big plans! Total poo.  So winter is on my blacklist and spring has officially become one of my favorite seasons.  This spring, as the flowers begin to bloom, I plan on heading out to the botanical gardens in Vienna for some good old fashioned photography fun and maybe begin work on my non-existent tan. Because I love spring so much, I decided to play along with Keeping up with Kelly's Top Three Thursday - why?  Because her question is: what are your three favorite things about spring?
So away we go with my happy top three favorite things about this spring time weather.
1. I love the temperature.  Being able to sleep with the heat off and windows open at night, listening to the sounds of nature outside is a great way to fall asleep.
2. It is the turning point to summer! I love summer. I love the beach, going to amusement parks, camping, and being out on the water. This year our summer comes early because we are spending our honeymoon in Fiji!!
3. The start of baseball season...I've read this a couple of other places too. But something about baseball just brings back amazing childhood memories and my fiance and his family are huge Cubbies fans and my family are die hards supporting the Red Sox Nation. I fall in between. I enjoy going to games in the summer, eating pretzels, drinking a beer and singing "take me out to the ball game" during the 7th inning stretch. I can't think of a better summer evening, and the only way to get there is to have spring training start in the spring!

Ok, so I know two of those are more pertaining to summer, but you can't have summer without first experiencing spring. And I love the colors and sounds of spring, so it is, without a doubt, my second favorite season. :-D

I'm embarrassed to admit...

But I am kinda addicted to watching The Bad Girls Club.  I've been reading quite a few blogs lately about shows like The Bachelor and The Real Housewives and I couldn't see what the appeal was.  Then, sitting at home sick today I watched a marathon of The Bad Girls Club on Oxygen and it all clicked. I mean, I'm ashamed to admit I watch these kinds of shows, but they somehow just suck me in. And then I started thinking back and I realized that this addiction to trashy reality TV goes back a long way...

For example - I seriously watched season 1 and 2 of Flavor of Love.
And then, to make matters worse, I watched the spin off of Flavor of Love, I Love New York. I only watched the first season of this, but I think that is bad enough. I just don't understand why I was so addicted to these horrible shows!!

Oh wait...it gets worse! I even watched Season 1 and 2 of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila! "HEY GIRL HEY!"
I really guess it all started with shows like The Real World and then Road Rules. For a while I was super obsessed with watching all of the challenges. I haven't seen any in quite a few seasons, but if I stumbled across a marathon one day, I'm sure I'd plop right down and waste a whole day watching. I am now watching the Bad Girls reuinon show and that is was made all these thoughts pop into my head. And I'll probably watch their new show Love Games, with 3 of the former bad girls. Ahhh, I'm so embarassed!

Please tell me there are others out there with this embarrassing obsession! I obviously can't be the only one since these shows go on and on for season after season!!

Top Two Tuesday - Celeb Styles

It's been almost a week since I've blogged! I am getting over a cold - I stayed home from work today to get some extra rest. I have to feel better like NOW because Saturday is my Bachlorette Party and I get to wear my super cute new dress! So I am super stoked for that and a cold dragging me down just won't be cool. But on that note, it's time for Top Two Tuesdays from the Undomestic Mamma. Today's top two is Celeb Styles!

1. Reese Witherspoon - I loooooved her in Sweet Home Alabama but overall I think she is simply gorgeous and her style is always so put together.  She is classic and if I could afford the clothes she wears, I would totally dress just like her.
2. Kate Hudson - Okay, so I know both of my ladies are skinny blonds, and trust me, my future hubby would LOVE if I went blond, even for a day, but I just love their styles. Kate Hudson is one of my favorite actresses and I think she is stunning. What I wouldn't give to have her hair! And her style is just so chic and sexy. I would rock 90% of everything I've seen her in...seriously. If I could afford to of course.... :-)
I mean honestly, how awesome is that dress and those shoes...man oh man!

A Fabulous 26th birthday!

Thanks to my amazing friends! I was kind of bummed when I found out that Andrew wouldn't be here for my birthday this year.  He recently was promoted to the manager of his department, which means new job responsibilities. One of those was to attend a 3 day conference in Williamsburg. So he missed my birthday dinner last night.  But we celebrated early by going to dinner on Monday night.  We ate at a Brazilian restaurant called The Charbroil Grill.  It is a buffet type dinner, which included things like ribs, bourbon chicken, tomato and mozzarella salad, tomato and cucumber salad, roasted red potatoes, etc. For a couple more dollars you can add on the meat service, where they walk around to your table with different kinds of meats and cut off pieces for you. At one point we had chicken, pork, turkey, flank steak, prime rib and sausage on our plates. I felt like such a heffer! But it was soooo good! The bartender even hooked us up with free shots of dirty bong waters in honor of my birthday. :-)

For my actual birthday - well the day was quite pleasant. I had lunch at Johnny's pizza with a couple of my girlfriends at work. I'll be having leftovers for lunch today...yum!  Then yesterday evening I met up with my best friend and other half of the duo, Becca and my other bestie JC for dinner at a Japanese steakhouse called Sakura.  They brought their man friends (husband and boyfriends) to dinner and we had a great time! I sat in the middle and we had some awesome conversations. JC got me this really cute purse from Fossil and Becca, oh Becca - she got me a pooping cow.  Now really she did.  See the pics below if you don't believe me!

Opening the pretty egg to see whats inside...
Why it's a pooping cow of course!
Push down on the cow and it poops out little jelly beans. She was so proud of herself for this one. haha
All of the ladies ordered drinks called Dancing Girls, which is a wine and fruit juice mix. Soooo good! We each got to take our glasses home. Becca didn't like her lobster class for some reason....
Me and the bestest - friends for over 10 years, we've celebrated many birthdays together!
The chef at Sakura making the volcano of onions.
JC being silly.
The birthday group. I honestly can't ask for a better group of friends to spend my birthday with. All that was missing was Andrew standing behind me in this photo.

After dinner I headed to Joann's to pick up a few wedding day essentials then went home to watch LOST with the puppies. The pups don't like it when Andrew or I are not home, so they tend to bark at EVERYTHING. So they had to sleep in their play pen last night because Parker kept barking and waking me up! The 12:30 am bark and wake was the last straw and they had to sleep downstairs. All in all, I had a wonderful birthday. Tons and tons of thanks to my friends and work buddies for making it such a great day!

Top Two Tuesday - Favorite Names...and my birthday!

Well first I have to wish a very Happy Birthday to myself. :-) I turned 26 today and I'm not sure if I'm happy to be on the upper side of my 20's or dreading that I'm now pushing 30. :-)  Either way, I'm sure today will be a great day. I'm having lunch with some co-workers today and then a birthday dinner with my two best friends. Andrew has to go out of town this afternoon so we celebrated my birthday yesterday.  All of that will come in a blog later though! :-D

So, now on to Top Two Tuesday from The Undomestic Momma!
Today's topic is favorite names. My soon to be sister in law had a fear about telling her favorite names to other members of the family because she feared they would steal them - so hopefully no future family members read this and jack my names!

Boy name: Cayden - I love this name.  But it will not be the name of our first born son because Andrew thinks it sounds like a name in one of those romantic, type love novels. But I'll always love it, and if we end up having two boys maybe I'll get my way!

Girl name: Kayleigh - I always wished I could have twins, a boy and a girl at the same time, and they would be named Kayleigh and Cayden.  Out of these two, Andrew only likes Kayleigh so our first girl will be named Kayleigh June. My middle name as well as my mother's middle name, AND Andrew's grandma's middle name is June, so we have to pass it along!

Andrew wants three kids, so I'll have to come up with another name. Since he doesn't like Cayden our first born son will be name Austin Ryan.  Ryan is Andrew's middle name and his initials spell A.R.M. So our first born son's will have the same initials as his daddy. :-)

My Bridal Tea Party - the food, the presents, the ladies!

So this blog will be more picture heavy than text heavy. I have so many amazing pictures that I figured I'd let them (with my captions) tell the story of my amazing shower. So away we go!

The zucchini soup.  It might not sound like it, but this soup was A-MAZE-ING!

Each person received their own tray with little tea sandwiches and desserts on them.
Some of the larger presents on the present table.

A very special moment for me happened when three old family friends finally arrived (they got lost). Ann and Dwight moved in next door to us when I was about 8 years old.  Two years later, after I turned 10, they had their first daughter, Sydney. I babysat for Sydney, and her sister Rachael that came a little over a year later for the first 7-8 years of their lives. Sydney was my little barbie doll, and I was closest to her.  She was an adorable little, blond baby and her sister was quite the firecracker.  I haven't seen them in almost 3 years - my parents moved away from the neighborhood after I graduated college.  I missed seeing them when I was home visiting. I spent a lot of time at their house when I was growing up, and I love their mom Ann a ton. She was like a second mother to me and they were my two baby sisters. I was so happy when they showed up, so very happy. They have matured into beautiful young ladies!

Sydney showing me a picture book that was made back when they were about 3 years old. The pictures of me made me cringe (horrible hair cuts!) but it was great seeing all of the memories.

Opening the presents. This one was from my grandmother.

My grandmother also won bridal bingo. I might have helped push that along a bit. ;-)
Modeling my ribbon bouquet from all my presents!

The bridal party.

My grandma and myself.

My mom and me.

Me and my soon to be mother in law, Lynn.

Sally and I.

Julie (Becca's mom) and I.

Myself and beautiful Miss Sydney.

Me and Pat.

Me and Tina - my future sister in law.
And last by not least:

The two wedding moms! My mom and Andrew's mom together. :-)

All in all the shower was a huge success. Everyone had nothing but great things to say about it and it went smoothly. I loved the individual tea pots we were all given as well as the little food stands, it was just too cute!

Tomorrow is my birthday so I'm sure that will be the blog highlight of the day, as well as Top Two Tuesdays!
